This week we caught up with Laura-Jayne, one of our fabulous singers and musicians.
BC: Hello there, so who are you?
Laura-Jayne: I’m a musician and my name is Laura-Jayne.
BC: Describe what you do in one sentence?
Laura-Jayne: I’m a singing guitarist and performer, perfect for weddings, corporate events and parties.
BC: What makes you different from other musicians?
Laura-Jayne: I have over 10 years experience, I’m extremely versatile and great at reading crowds, I can blend into the background if desired and simply add to the atmosphere or I can fully engage and entertain the audience and get everyone on the dance floor!
BC: How did you become a musician?
Laura-Jayne: I’ve been a singer and performer as long as I can remember, and after finishing my degree in music I knew that I wanted to be a full time musician.
BC: Who is your favourite artist?
Laura-Jayne: This is impossible to say as there are so many I love and so many great new artists on the ever-changing music scene. But a few of my classic loves are Nina Simone, Bjork, Sia, Joni Mitchell to name but a few!
BC: What has been your favourite ever event (and why)?
Laura-Jayne: I’m afraid I couldn’t pin point one, I’ve had a few that I’ve absolutely loved! But I do enjoy it most when the audience are having a great time and I get them up dancing or singing along.
BC: What would be your ideal event?
Laura-Jayne: I do love adding to the atmosphere, so I love performing at a drinks reception or during dinner for corporate events.
BC: Who have you most enjoyed performing for/meeting on an event?
Laura-Jayne: I enjoyed performing at the Ronson family BBQ and met Kelly Hoppen there, who enjoyed the performance so much she even took a wee video!
BC: What do you do the rest of the time (when you’re not doing your act)?
Laura-Jayne: I’m a full time musician, so when I’m not performing solo at events, I’m performing with my seven piece swing jazz band The Canaries, or doing backing vocals for different artists or performing at residencies around London.
